Back Ups

My first Colts game was the last regular season game ever in the RCA dome. Maybe I should not have gone so Kerry Collins would not have won. That set the tone for the Playoffs, back up QBs winning. Oh well Billy Volecktricity is a baller so no one can be mad, except Chad. Anyways I am drunk and I just wanted to share with everyone that we have a new pledge who looks just like Pat. He is a sophomore who looks like SharpE, who lives in Carey, and when they offered him a bid today they told him he could sign or decline. This kid was ready though and he totally laweryed us and said, "according to IFC rules I can also defer." Which is what he did, I can only assume he is weighing which is his best chance at winning an intramural title in ultimate frisbee. I am so Chad Sweating.

Boo YEa!

Everyone Hates Chris

Seeing the title from the last post made me think of this title.....

Not a bad show for the CW, though.

Making Bad CHOICES

So I am sure everyone heard about our awesome party during BGR (we didn't know the rules applied to us). Well on Monday we as a house had to attend an alcohol awareness class as part of our punishment to get off probation*. It was educational and I am sure you can guess what many of us 21 year olds did after the presentation. That is correct we went to Stacks. Anyways I did learn that if you BAC goes over .31 you should be in a comma, so Pat add that to the list of you achievments.

Here are some pictures of why we shouldn't drink this much. Oh well your only in college once**.

*We are still on Athletic Probation due to a soccer mêlée with Delta Chi in the playoffs (we won the fight, lost the game).

** Well Clay and Pat got to go to College twice, and Klein he is just trying to pull a Van Wilder.

Please Sir May I Have Another

Those six words were uttered by Kevin Bacon during the movie Animal House. What you may not have known is the fact that he was getting spanked in a Pike house. Thats correct the Omega house just so happened to be an actual Pike house. The movie was shot at Oregon which I also didn't know, but found out this weekend from Stewart Mandel's blog. He asked for an Oregon student to show him around this weekend and the kid he picked ended up being a Pike.

Here is an exerpt from his blog:

Long before Joey Harrington or Dennis Dixon, Oregon was best known for … running legend Steve Prefontaine (also a Pike). While I did took a peek into Prefontaine's former stomping grounds, famed track venue Hayward Field, just a little while ago, I have to admit I was much more excited to learn that my host, Eric Goss (who hereby will be referred to solely as "Goss," as everyone on this campus calls him), used to live in the former Omega house from the movie Animal House.

As he said, "Kevin Bacon got spanked in my living room."

That's right, comedy lovers. Animal House was shot at Oregon. Sadly, the fictional Omega house, formerly home to Goss' fraternity, Pike, is now deserted. Even worse, the site of the fictional Delta house -- the building where John Belushi once uttered the words, "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?" -- is gone. Leveled. Replaced by a faceless doctor's office. Even the front-lawn where Belushi watched the movers "take the bar!" has been paved over by a parking lot. Only a nondescript plaque out front marks the property's claim to fame.

However, in addition to the Omega house next door, Goss also pointed out to me the sorority house where Bluto and D-Day tried to sneak in and the "women's house" where Otter landed himself dates for him and his three friends.

I was once in a fraternity myself, at Northwestern, but ours was kind of a PG-13 fraternity. I'm starting to get the sense that Goss, a "fifth-year senior," is a true frat guy. First of all, he's been taking calls all day from fraternity brothers having to do with some secret ritual* taking place tonight.

*I wonder if that "secret ritual" happened to actually be hazing?

Challenge

I am not sure if anyone on the blog reads Stewart Mandell's mailbag, but he has a challenge for us this week.

"TV-character analogies are fun. Bonus points to anyone who can come up with college football equivalents for the five major characters -- Dennis, Dee, Mack, Charlie and Frank -- from another Mailbag favorite, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia."

This challenge was proposed because of this question

Glad to see you are down with the two best comedies on TV, The Office and Curb Your Enthusiasm. These have been tough times lately for Dwight (dumped by Angela), Michael (bankrupt) and Larry David (dumped by Cheryl). Of the college "stars" recently "dumped" from the national-championship race (USC, Florida, Texas, Michigan, etc.), which do you think are, like Dwight, destined to come back in the coming years?--Trey Clark, Santa Barbara, Calif.

Red Sox Win....again!

Who could have imagined this just 5 years ago. After 86 years of misery the Red Sox now own the most World Series Championships in the new Milenium. Congrats boys! Ohh and the Cubs are still looking for that first championship in 100 years.

Ohh yea and A-Rod opting out during the Sox sweep just shows that he wants to be the center of attention and isn't a team guy. I hope the Red Sox just re-sign Lowell and dont bother with A-Rod.

That Is My Banner!

Well after Purdue was able to get by Notre Dame a lot of newspapers and websites decided to mention our amazing banner.

Here are some quotes from around the Country:

  1. Notre Dame is 0-5 for the first time in its storied history and has lost seven straight games over a two-year period. The future does not look bright with UCLA, BC and USC on the immediate horizon. The green painted sign in one end zone spoke volumes about the team's plight: "Rudy could start this year." -Dick Weiss, New York Daily News-
  2. "This was against a punchless Notre Dame team whose struggles inspired the banner of the year: Rudy Could Start This Year."-Bob Kravitz, Indianapolis Star-
  3. Today's Sign of the Day
We will give Purdue fans this: They have the most creative sign we've seen this year. Playing off the "Rudy was offsides" and entire Rudy theme, this sits at the bottom of the massive Purdue student section: "RUDY could start this year." -Michael Rothstein, Irish Insights-
Oh yea and the banner was hanging outside the house all day Friday, so the house made it on Friday night SportsCenter. Must have been the first time our house was on TV without the words: suspension, arrests, or cops mentioned.

Just In Case You Were Wondering

Since many of my fellow bloggers are either in lawyer school or “the real world” I feel obligated to update you on what life as an undergrad is like. Well after getting my homework for the week done; I am in prime position to go out and enjoy the amazing Purdue bar scene. I guess I will head out to Jakes tonight around 9 and probably stay until around 2. I plan on blacking out in an attempt to get a hot* formal dinner date, I think my odds are good because it is sorority bid night so all the seniors will be out.

After a heavy night of drinking I will attend my 2 classes tomorrow afternoon, and then get ready for my football scrimmage**. After the game it is buddy function time. Buddy Function should be interesting for 2 reasons:
1). I definitely don’t know my buddy.
2). My sister is now a Pi Phi so she will be here.
Of course these reasons will not stop me from getting drunk and embarrassing myself before I head to Stacks.

Friday I will attempt to make my 8:30 before I head over to the elementary school to hang out with my little brother*** (I am pumped for recess). After that I will be drinking while helping Daily set up for formal dinner. We will definitely be playing power hour during the dinner, I may not even eat so I have more room for Franzia.

Saturday is breakfast club and tailgating with my family (they are upset the Sharpe’s won’t be next to them this year). After the game we will go to stacks and enjoy a great dinner of party fries and Green Dragons, with Rumpies for dessert.

Sunday will be back to my homework and getting it done by Wednesday so I can repeat the same cycle next weekend.

*Of course when I am so drunk I can’t stand my judgment is usually not so good (at least the Tri-Pi’s won’t be out).
** “If we lose I am dissociating”, Chad before he lost to a team with girls on it.
*** My little brother is white...because I requested a white kid.

Our email at work is down for the day, so Klein and I are moving our (pointless) conversations to the blog for the day. Hope no one has any objections.

Beakman's World

Now THAT.. was a fucked up TV show. Only in America can you have a show with a giant rat as a lab partner along with a meth head chick and a guy that looks like Bill Nye's retarded cousin. Oh yeah... and for those of you not up on your Saturday morning science shows... Chad's post featured the girl from that show. I thought it was neat to see she's still around. Check it out.

She actually isn't half bad looking now though... i mean... I would let her know.

That's from my personal autographed memorabilia of her. She can empty my beaker any time. heh heh... oh god even i kinda feel perverted by that.

Oh my god, I'm back again...

Hey everyone, it's been awhile and believe me... I heard your cries... I shall write once again.

Well this summer is going extremely slow and much like Adam, I too am working for valuable work experience and little money only its been ok because I am working with the Colts. Oh, and for the illinois people and the Northern Indiana people who claim to be a part of Chicago even when their dad is a mayor in INDIANA... the Colts are a football team in the NFL that are currently World Champions. They beat some team last year for the title... it was exciting. Anyways, on to a day in the life of a college graduate without a real job.

I usually show up to "work" about 8 minutes early to try and impress my boss that I am punctual and care about my job... she does not care. Instead I sit down in front of her desk and begin my grueling day of work.

Work usually consists of me sitting and doing nothing while she checks emails and talks on the phone to people. I just sit and read the 9 million inspirational quotes on her wall such as, "If you can't do anything about it --- Why worry? If you can do something about it --- Why worry?" Ummm, I don't get it either.

Next, and this is only if she is swamped, she will ask me to walk up to the front of the building and shred some papers. I did get to shred Brady Quinn's information release form from the combine the other day and I honestly thought about trying to eBay it... what could I get for that Chad??? It had the boy toys autograph on it which actually looked like my signature in the third grade... without the heart for the A of course.

After a little office sitting and staring, I get to go out to practice and run the chains which is a blast. I have always wanted to be the guy that reaches up and switches the down marker and now I can honestly say I have done that. The only time I screwed up so far I got yelled at by Peyton and Tom Moore... DAMMIT Ryan, you didn't review the tapes... Peyton must be so dissapointed.

I have had a few run ins with players so far and that has been neat. Jeff Saturday asked me if I owned a gun, Adam Vinatieri gave me a really excited, "What's happenin' man!" and Peyton Manning walked past me without looking at me. The whole restraining order has really put a damper on our relationship.

Anyways, I am headed off to Summer Camp to be a little bitch there for 4 weeks so I may not get to do many stories. I hope you all don't miss me and I am very upset that I can't go to the 90's party. I do a mean Zach Morris with my hair (which is getting nice and wavy and blonde right now). So I bid you all adieu and remind you to say hello to Beckham tonight. 5 bucks says he starts the game...
